- NASA's space probe Voyager 1 made its closest approach to Saturn on November 12, 1980, providing detailed images and data about the planet, its rings, and its moons.
- November 12, 1929, is the birthdate of Grace Patricia Kelly, an American actress who became the Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier III in April 1956.
