1. In 1781, Los Angeles was founded by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve, which makes September 4th the official founding date of the city. It was originally named "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles" (The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels).
2. On September 4, 1882, Thomas Edison switched on the world's first commercial electric power plant, providing light and power to customers in a square mile area of lower Manhattan in New York City. This event marked the beginning of the electrical age as the Edison Illuminating Company opened the Pearl Street Power Station.
3. Beyoncé, the world-renowned singer and entertainer, was born on September 4, 1981. She has become one of the best-selling music artists in history and is recognized for her impressive vocal skills, performance abilities, and contributions to music and culture.
4. Google was incorporated as a privately held company on September 4, 1998, marking the official birth of the tech giant which would go on to become one of the most powerful companies in the world, influencing virtually all aspects of the internet from search to cloud computing.
5. The Ford Motor Company introduced the first low-priced V8 engine powered car, the Model 18, on September 4, 1932. This innovation made powerful, eight-cylinder engines affordable to a broader segment of the public for the first time.
