Despite the initial interest, National Food Day’s celebration was inconsistent through the 80s and 90s, and it didn’t manage to achieve widespread recognition or influence. However, in 2011, CSPI breathed new life into the initiative, with many well-known figures, politicians, and food activists voicing their support.

After its revival, National Food Day broadened its horizons to include a wider exploration of food-related issues, still holding true to its fundamental mission of endorsing safer, healthier, and more sustainable food sources.
